THE MONTANA INTENSIVE WRESTLING CAMP
This camp is designed for ages 5-18. We customize breakout groups to match the needs of Elementary athletes through College Prep athletes. We welcome all skill levels from intermediates to state champs. Any wrestler, male or female, with the desire to improve their skill level should attend. Groups are broken out based on an individual's age, size, skill level and gender. To best accommodate this age range, we offer 2 program choices: 1). Half-Day Option (9am-12pm daily) AND 2). Full-Day Option. We have also added in a special group scheduled within the Full-Day Option specifically geared towards those preparing to compete in Fargo. This FARGO PREP Group will be 100% focused on Freestyle & Greco techniques as well as lifting and conditioning best suited to adequately prepare athletes to compete just a few weeks later at 16U/Junior Nationals.
(We recommend the half day option for wrestlers age 8 and under. All participants are also recommended to have at least 1 season/year of experience)
CANADIAN WRESTLERS ARE WELCOMED TO ATTEND! When registering we currently do not have an international option in our online portal. Please use the following "Physical Address": Flathead High School, 644 4th Ave. W., Kalispell, MT 59901 wherever applicable. Use all other personal contact information when able to do so.
Established in 2001, the Montana Intensive Wrestling Camp is one of the longest running youth wrestling camps in the nation. Jeff Thompson, Director and Founder originally modeled the MTWC after the JROB Intensive camps. Thompson wrestled for J Rob and the University of Minnesota Gophers after graduating from Great Falls High School as a 3X State Champion and spent many summers running JROB camps during his college career.
Annually, the Montana Intensive Wrestling Camp features guest clinicians and a large coaching staff comprised of some of the best in the state and nation. The five-day camp will develop your wrestling to the maximum, by teaching the correct ways to wrestle, run, and. weight-train for our sport. Highlights of the week include training room duals and a MTWC Camp ALL-STAR Dual featuring many of the best wrestlers in attendance. All three styles: Folk, Free, & Greco-Roman, plus all phases of wrestling will be covered: take-downs, reversals, escapes, riding, and pinning. This camp is designed to train serious wrestlers, being an intense camp, and you are advised to show up in shape, ready to work, and have fun. Our objective of this camp is to help ready wrestlers for state, regional and national competitions, including those preparing to attend Cadet and Junior Nationals in Fargo.
MTWC take things to the next level and emphasizes the importance of a proper mindset and motivation in wrestling. During our daily "Motivation" time, wrestlers are able to hear from many of our featured clinicians as they share their journeys in the sport and words of wisdom. Throughout sessions and in daily announcements the staff also works to deliver messages supporting healthy habits in training, nutrition, and hydration that significantly impact young athletes work striving to perform at their best.
Topping off the week we make sure to add in some fun with a night at the newly renovated Big Sky Water Park (additional family members welcome to sign up) and offer multiple recommendations on cool sites and off-campus adventures for families and teams to explore the beautiful surrounding Flathead Valley and Glacier National Park.
